Bingo - Above and Beyond!

Ok, you play bingo on Friday nights at the local St. Mary’s. You pay your $5.00 admission and spend another $30.00 on extra cards. You have been doing this for 25 years and have never missed a night except the blizzard of 78 and even then, you were willing to travel to bingo but they cancelled. Ok, we get the picture, you love bingo!!

Last year, you found bingo online. You joined Bingo Gang and play nearly every evening since you work 9am-5pm. As soon as you walk in the door, you turn on your computer, log into Bingo Gang, enter chat, click on Buy Cards and set up your prebuys for an hour so you can get dinner done and over with. You say HELLO ROOMIES, BRB, And COOKING DINNER. The other roomies say, yup, she’s home.

Ok, now we understand, you’re not just a bingo addict, your crazedddddddd with bingo. We see you playing bingo online 7 nights a week and still going to St. Mary’s on Friday nights too. Now the question is what happens when this gets boring? What do you do?

I HAVE THE ANSWER!!!!

How about taking a Bingo Cruise? Have you ever even pondered the idea? I pondered and pondered and finally, I bit the bullet and booked a Bingo Cruise. I had the best vacation ever!!! Let me tell you a little bit about the bingo cruise that I went on.

It was the “Oceans of Cash” cruise out of New Orleans. I paid a set price and it included just about everything!!! The cruise was on one of Carnivals ships, “The Inspiration”. Well worth the money.

The trip cost was $1500.00 per person but wait; don’t think WOW, that’s a lot of money because the cruise included: 7 day cruise, port charges, taxes, round trip airfare, Bingo Tournament Fees, entertainment, food, more food, and even more food!!! The bingo games played in 3 different sessions. Each game paid $1000.00 but there was also a $10,000, $20,000 and the grand prize, 1 million dollars!!!!! Ok, I didn’t win any of the big ones but I did win 2 of the 1000.00 games so guess what? My trip was free!!!

Besides Bingo, we also did a lot of great act ivies on board but the 2nd best part of the trip were the port of calls. We went to Montego Bay, Grand Cayman(my favorite) and Cozumel.

I think what made this trip even better was hanging out with all the Bingo lovers. We ate, drank, slept and played bingo for 7 solid days. I met a few of my online roomies on the cruise and since then, we aim each year to meet for a long weekend to do what you ask? What else, PLAY BINGO.

So, if you think you have done it all with bingo and there is no more, why not think about taking one of the many Bingo Cruises that are offered each year. I have done quite a bit of research on the net to find that there are numerous bingo cruises each year and from many different ports. Even if you don’t win a game, it’s worth it. The bingo atmosphere and the bingo players are PRICELESS.

Smoking ban still applies to bingo halls

A Jefferson Circuit Court judge has stuck down a district court order that prohibited the Louisville Metro Health Department from enforcing the city’s old smoking ban in bingo halls.

A district judge had ruled in April that the bingo halls are private clubs and exempt from the ordinance.

But in a Dec. 28 ruling, Jefferson Circuit Judge W. Douglas Kemper ruled that District Judge Sheila Collins exceeded her authority in striking down the ordinance as it relates to bingo halls.

He ruled that state law only allowed her to determine if the Louisville Metro Code Enforcement Board of Appeals acted arbitrarily.

The Jefferson County Attorney’s office only obtained a copy of the Circuit Court order this week.

Kemper effectively ruled that if the bingo halls want to challenge the ordinance, they must file a separate suit in Jefferson Circuit Court.

Kemper remanded the case to district court and ordered the judge to make a finding as to whether the code enforcement board acted arbitrarily.

Whatever the final outcome of the case, it will probably not matter in July, when a new smoking ordinance takes effect that bans smoking in virtually every work place.
