Bingo Friend

Online bingo has truly given me a special gift other than monetary winnings. I met my best friend at an online bingo site in chat. In the chat rooms at an online bingo site, there are players found from all over the world. They interact on a daily basis sharing life experiences and stories while daubing their bingo cards. Everyday, many players will log into their favorite online bingo site and join the chat to converse with other players from around the globe. Many players even call it their second home. I know that I do.

In 1998, I had moved half way across the country due to my husband’s employment. I have always been rather shy in meeting new people so making friends did not come easily. I worked from a home office as well so I did not interact with others on a daily basis. I needed to find a way to meet others. While living back east, I played bingo twice a week with my friends.

I found an online bingo site while surfing the internet. I decided that I would try it since I loved going to land bingo. Again, I was new to the area and had yet to find a bingo hall that I liked. I found what I needed right here from the comforts of home. It was called online bingo. I logged into the bingo site and made a deposit and purchased some bingo cards. I was lost and confused and found a button called BINGO CHAT. I found what I needed and in more ways than one. I found the answers to my bingo gaming questions and also found some new friends. A place to call home.

After about six months of playing online bingo, one of the chatters decided that she would like to organize a trip where other online bingo players could meet. She planned a trip to a large land based bingo/casino. I decided that even though it was 1000 miles away, I wanted to make this trip. I flew into town and met with 10 other online bingo friends and had a great weekend filled with bingo, bingo and yes, more bingo and oh, some laughs too along the way. I deepened my friendship with many online bingo players during this weekend.

After about another six months of playing bingo and chatting with my friends I had learned that one of the other bingo players had lost her job. We had become good friends through bingo and the trip as well. We started to talk a lot on the telephone and came to the conclusion that it was time for her to move on. She had just completed an adoption of her grandson and needed to make a comfortable home for him. She packed up her bags and moved over 1000 miles away. She moved in with me.

A little time has passed now but my best friend is here with me. She has her own home now but we work together and hang out with each other all the time. We do not get to play a lot of bingo however except online of course. Online bingo has given me many joys in my life but meeting a new friend for life tops the cake.

Smoking ban still applies to bingo halls

A Jefferson Circuit Court judge has stuck down a district court order that prohibited the Louisville Metro Health Department from enforcing the city’s old smoking ban in bingo halls.

A district judge had ruled in April that the bingo halls are private clubs and exempt from the ordinance.

But in a Dec. 28 ruling, Jefferson Circuit Judge W. Douglas Kemper ruled that District Judge Sheila Collins exceeded her authority in striking down the ordinance as it relates to bingo halls.

He ruled that state law only allowed her to determine if the Louisville Metro Code Enforcement Board of Appeals acted arbitrarily.

The Jefferson County Attorney’s office only obtained a copy of the Circuit Court order this week.

Kemper effectively ruled that if the bingo halls want to challenge the ordinance, they must file a separate suit in Jefferson Circuit Court.

Kemper remanded the case to district court and ordered the judge to make a finding as to whether the code enforcement board acted arbitrarily.

Whatever the final outcome of the case, it will probably not matter in July, when a new smoking ordinance takes effect that bans smoking in virtually every work place.
